Everything you wanted to ask
The questions we are asked most, answered properly. If yours is not here, call us or send a WhatsApp — a person answers.
Booking and cancelling
How do I book a car?
Choose your car and dates on the booking page and send the request, or simply call or WhatsApp us. We reply personally, confirm the final price and the delivery details, and that is it.
Do I pay anything to book?
No. There is no deposit and no booking fee, and we do not take your card details when you reserve. Everything is settled when you collect the car.
Is the price you quote the price I pay?
Yes. The price we agree before you arrive is guaranteed, and every compulsory charge is already in it. No hidden extras.
What if I need to cancel?
There is no charge. We only ask that you tell us, so we can offer the car to someone else.
What if my plans change once I am here?
Call us. Extending or changing a rental is usually no problem and we deal with it over the phone.
Drivers and documents
How old do I have to be?
Normally 21, and you must have held a full driving licence for at least two complete years.
Will my driving licence work in Spain?
Yes, if it is a full, valid and unrestricted licence held for at least 24 months. Outside that you will need an International Driving Permit. We need the original documents — photocopies are not accepted.
Can someone else drive the car?
Two named drivers are included in the price. A third can be added; ask us and we tell you the cost.
What should I bring on the day?
Your driving licence, your passport or ID card, and a credit card for the insurance excess. All originals.
Price, insurance and excess
What is included in the price?
Insurance, two named drivers, unlimited mileage, local taxes, free delivery and collection in the south of Tenerife, and free baby and child seats on request.
What insurance comes with the car?
Third-party insurance that covers the occupants of the car and any damage you cause to other road users.
What is the excess, and can I avoid it?
You leave a credit card guarantee for the insurance excess. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is available and removes it; a card deposit is still taken and returned in full when the car comes back on time, in good condition and with the right amount of fuel. Ask us for the current figures.
What happens if I have an accident?
Fill in the accident report form kept in the car with the other driver details and call us straight away. If the accident is legally not your fault and the details are recorded properly, your excess is not affected, because we can claim from the other party.
Is there a mileage limit?
No. Mileage is unlimited.
Fuel
What is your fuel policy?
Full to full. We give you the car with a full tank and you bring it back full, so you only pay for what you actually use. Some companies hand the car over empty; we think full to full is the fairest way for both sides.
What if I bring it back without filling up?
There is a charge, and it works out considerably more than filling it yourself at a petrol station. Easiest to fill up on the way back.
Children
Do you charge for child seats?
No. Baby and child seats are free, subject to availability. Tell us when you book how many children are travelling and their ages.
Can my child sit in the front?
Children under 135 cm may not travel in the front seat. Spanish law makes the driver responsible for children being properly restrained, so the driver fits the seat — our staff are there to help.
Delivery and collection
Where do you deliver the car?
At Tenerife South Airport, at your hotel or apartment anywhere in the south of the island, or at our office in Las Chafiras. Tenerife North Airport on request.
Do I have to queue at the airport?
No. That is the whole point of booking with us: we meet you, the paperwork is minimal and you drive away.
My flight lands late at night. Is that a problem?
No. Give us your flight number when you book and we coordinate the delivery with you, including outside normal hours.
How do I return the car at the airport?
You can leave it at the airport and use the key drop — we give you the details. We ask for a contribution towards the parking. If you drop it off after office hours there is no out-of-hours collection charge; we pick it up the next day.
During your rental
What counts as a rental day?
A 24-hour period starting when you pick the car up.
Is there a minimum rental?
No. Tell us the dates you need and we quote you.
Can I take the car to another island or to the mainland?
Not without asking us first. The insurance covers the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; taking the car anywhere else needs our authorisation in advance.
What am I responsible for while I have the car?
Driving it normally and keeping an eye on the basics: tyre pressure, oil, coolant and screen wash. Tell us straight away about any damage or fault.
What happens with traffic fines?
The fine is yours, and we charge an administration fee for processing it. Ask us for the current amount.
Can I bring golf clubs or a surfboard?
Tell us when you book and we make sure the car fits what you are carrying. We also have bike racks.
Still not sure about something?
Ask us. You get an answer from Jerry, Oli or George — not a chatbot.
